Make double the impact! Help SJLI inspire change makers and your gift will be matched.

Now, more than ever, we need the social justice advocates that our programs inspire - and any support helps. From now until December 31st, every dollar of your donations will be matched by the All Ways Up Foundation. That means, if you give $40, your gift will be doubled with an additional $40, making a total of $80 available to fund our programs.  All gifts are tax deductible.

Since 2006 the Social Justice Learning Institute has been dedicated to improving the education and well-being of youth and communities of color by empowering them to assess injustices and enact social change. We use our social justice based curriculum to help young men of color achieve academic success and become forces of change in our communities.

Some of our recent achievements...

  • Just this month, we completed our ‘100 Seeds of Change’ challenge by installing one-hundred home, school and community gardens in Inglewood and Lennox.  For each garden recipient, we offer on-site training and continuous support as they become growers and food justice advocates throughout our communities.

  • Among SJLI’s Urban Scholar seniors, 87% graduated high school and 93% of those graduates are headed on to college this fall – a contrast to the average graduation rate for Black males in LAUSD of  59%.

  • After more than five years of convening and planning with community stakeholders, we started Inglewood’s first farmers’ market, that now runs twice a month permanently, in partnership with the City of Inglewood. EBT dollars can be used with our vendors and matched up to $10, expanding healthy food access to lower income community members.

  • To address frequent suspensions in schools, our youth organizers pushed for the LAUSD Board to adopt a 2015-16 budget that reflected an increase in funding for Restorative Justice and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) measures.

  • Our Urban Health Fellowship empowered students to be health advocates in their communities and gives them exposure to the medical and health fields, for their own academic achievement.

SJLI is changing the lives of young men of color helping them graduate, go to college and become community leaders. You can help too!

Donating to the Social Justice Learning Institute supports our work with communities to provide educational equity in Los Angeles and have an impact locally, regionally and nationally. All donations are tax deductible and all donations make a difference. Thank you.
