Healthy Lifestyle Education

Social Justice Learning Institute provides health and nutrition education classes and opportunities to the community

Healthy Lifestyle Centers

SJLI recognizes that there are few places in Inglewood and Lennox that expose community members to healthy lifestyle activities and programing. In partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health’s Nutrition Education Obesity Prevention initiative, SJLI is providing the community with Healthy Lifestyle Centers. These centers are one-stop shops for community members to learn ways to improve local food security, enjoy cooking demonstrations, and participate in nutrition, fitness, and gardening classes.

Centers open at least one day per week, and are staffed by peer educators from the community. At the centers, participating community members can obtain CalFresh resources and information, become subscribers of SJLI’s CSA program, and purchase/pick-up their share of affordable SNAP-eligible organic fruits and vegetables, grown locally.
